In April-May 2018 the XXXV International Festival of Children, Youth and Student Creativity «The Blue Bird of Gzhel » on the basis of the Gzhel State University under the motto: "The strength of Russia is the unity of it people!" was held. It united about 1700 participants from Russia and 125 representatives of 12 countries: Belarus, Guatemala, India, Kazakhstan, China, Cuba, Turkmenistan, El Salvador, Uzbekistan, the Ukraine, France, Czech Republic.
«The Blue Bird of Gzhel» annually opens up new talents in next nominations "Artistic Word", "Literary and Musical Composition", "Theatrical Creativity", "Choreography", "Vocal Art", as well as an exhibition of fine arts, arts and crafts and design projects.
Foreign students studying at Gzhel University in the Faculty of Decorative and Applied Art and Design are obligatory participants of the exhibition competition program in the nomination "Decorative and Applied Creativity".
The opening of the festival was the performance of Cuban student Matos Chappotin Regla with an incendiary song "Carnival".
A large group of Chinese students from Yancheng Pedagogical University took part in the festival. Spectators really liked the performance of Gao Sinyu with the song "Balloon" and a Chinese dance performed by Liu Jiang and Chen Tintin.
For Chinese students, a tour of the university was organized. They got acquainted with the exhibition of decorative and applied art, where about 100 works by foreign participants were presented, then they visited the training workshops where they saw how Gzhel porcelain was created. In the pottery workshop, GSU students demonstrated how red clay in skilled hands can acquire unusual shapes.
In GSU Museum of Decorative and Applied Art, the festival participants were impressed by the variety of graduation works of the university. They learned about various types of ceramics: porcelain, majolica, chamotte and many others.
Maria Belous held a master class for Chinese students on Gzhel painting.
Gzhel University has become an international platform, where it is possible to develop the creative potential of young people from all over the world in various fields of art.
