On May 23rd, 2018, the jubilee X International Festival "Artistic Ceramics" was held at the University. More than 250 artists and students from Russia and foreign countries - Azerbaijan, Belarus, Guatemala, Guinea, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Luhansk People’s Republic, El Salvador, Uzbekistan, the Ukraine, France, Japan. The festival was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of the first rector of the Gzhel State University, Hero of Socialist Labor, laureate of the State Prize of the USSR V. M. Loginov (1938-2009).
The festival was opened by the rector of GSU Prof. B. V. Ilkevich. The participants of the event were greeted by representatives of the Ramensky District Administration, the Russian Orthodox Church, the Ministry of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Russian Academy of Education, foreign guests, artists and art critics.
The festival program included solo exhibitions, expositions of creative works of GSU students, master classes of Russian and foreign participants. An exhibition-contest of creative works in the categories "Professional", "University student", "College student" in nominations: "Traditional ceramics (majolica, faience)" was held; "Traditional ceramics (porcelain)"; "Decorative plastic (sculpture)"; "Decorative plastic (relief)"; "Decorative plastic (panels)"; "Decorative ceramics (chamotte)"; "Design in ceramics."
Within the framework of the experimental site of the Russian Academy of Education (together with the Institute of Art Education and Cultural Studies of the Russian Academy of Education), a thematic conference "National Features of the Art of the Peoples of Russia: an Educational Aspect" was held. The round table dedicated to the memory of V. M. Loginov "His destiny was Gzhel" was organized, which was accompanied by an exhibition of photographs of the first rector of GSU.
The festival ended with a solemn ceremony of awarding participants who won the exhibition-contest in the categories "Professional", "University student", "College student". Diplomas and prizes were given to the laureates of the competition by the rector of GSU B.V. Ilkevich and the dean of the Faculty of Decorative and Applied Art and Design G. P. Moskovskaya.
