On June 20th, 2018 the head of the International Relations Department N. V. Barkalova and the International Relations Specialist I. A. Smirnova, at the invitation of the Embassy of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, took part in the event organized by the Embassy and the Uruguay XXI Institute.

During the meeting, the presentation of the country’s achievements in the field of tourism, culture and education was held. The cooperation of the University of Gzhel with the Embassy of Uruguay began in 2013, representatives of this country take part in many international projects of GSU, the university has repeatedly visited the Ambassador of Uruguay His Excellency Anibal Cabral Segalerba and other employees.

Representatives of our university participate in events organized by the Embassy of Uruguay. February 15th, 2017 the meeting of the President of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay Mr. Tabare Vazquez with his compatriots living in Russia. Igor Popov, an employee of the international department of GSU, is a descendant of Russian immigrants to Uruguay, and he visited this meeting and handed over to the president of the country a vase made by students of Gzhel University in production workshops in honor of the 160th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries.

This time the Ambassador of Uruguay, His Excellency Enrique Juan Delgado Jenta, was given a souvenir made in the university’s training and production workshops by students to the opening of the World Cup, a porcelain soccer ball.

The presentation was made by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Uruguay Mr. Ariel Bergamo.

The event was attended by representatives of many Latin American countries, so there was an opportunity to talk and discuss the prospects for the development of international cooperation of the university in the field of education and culture. In particular, with the Ambassador of the Republic of Costa Rica, His Excellency Arturo Fournier Fasio, who visited our university in 2017 and got acquainted with the terms of training, the prospects for the preparation of gifted youth from this country were discussed. The Ambassador of Honduras, Her Excellency Eleonora Ortes Williams, and the Ambassador of Panama, His Excellency Miguel Lekaro Barsenas, expressed the desire to get acquainted with the activities of the University of Gzhel, known as the international center for ceramics training.

169 foreign students study at the university, 10 of them from Guatemala and El Salvador are trained in the field of arts and crafts and crafts. The university has accumulated sufficient experience in the training of Latin American students, therefore the ambassadors are interested in the conditions of studying and living in the State University.

Cooperation with representatives of Uruguay, like other Latin American countries, will continue!
