Second-year students of Gzhel State University Nikita Pronkin and Dmitry Dymov took part in the All-Russian School of Student Self-Government “Leader of the XXIst Century”. The student government school was held in the city of Rostov-on-Don from July 16th to 20th, 2018 under the auspices of Russian Union of Youth, Association of Students and Student Associations of Russia and Don Union of Youth.

Every year, the brightest, most capable and creative activists of the student self-government of the country gather at the leadership shifts, and this is not the first participation in the school of activists for the students of GSU.

Representatives of the GSU Nikita Pronkin and Dmitry Dymov chose the direction of volunteering to participate in the school of the asset in advance.

- On the first day we settled, met with the participants of the event, started work and even managed to exchange knowledge and information with representatives of some volunteer associations from other regions of the country. The evening event was productive and fun. On the second day of the shift, in one of the blocks of the educational program, the head of the direction Anastasia Neskuba told the participants about five principles of working in a team of volunteers:

1. Build a good relationship with volunteers.

2. Work with volunteers constantly, and not from time to time.

3. Study the possibilities of your volunteers, let’s work on the strengths.

4. Help the volunteer see the limits of his responsibility.

5. You should not take all the responsibility on yourself or assign it to only one person.

In our volunteer work at the university, the obtained knowledge and skills will be useful, they can be transmitted to new students at our university schools of activism “Promotion”.

The football party for the School participants became the end of a busy educational day. Four powerful teams, 11 active players in each of them, one winner, dozens of smiling, bright faces of fans.

On the third day of the shift, we participated in the entire educational program of the School, accompanied by the compositions of the singer Alla Pugacheva; about 8 hours of theory and practice, together with the leaders of the directions and invited experts. Speakers Anastasia Loseva and Egor Sergeyev spoke about the principles of building the work of student media centers and the rules for conducting and promoting groups of student councils and media centers in social groups of the Internet. Daria Panarina presented the All-Russian project “Your Choice”, in which our university took an active part. She told about the peculiarities of the procedure of general elections of chairmen of student councils of educational organizations of the country.

Alexander Chaika shared his experience of participating in major volunteer events and told how to get there as an organizer or participant. In the second block, Alexander spoke in detail about the WorldSkills project and the resource center for recruiting volunteers for this event.

The last day was full of trainings, lectures and practical exercises.

The structure of volunteer associations, the involvement of volunteers, as well as how to avoid common mistakes in working with people with disabilities, how to get the necessary knowledge and skills, said instructor and speaker Alina Enaleeva.

At the close of the shift, we had the opportunity to join the Russian Youth Union. With new skills and knowledge, charged with positive emotions and strength, we went home. Participation in the school of the asset "Leader of the XXIst Century" gave us a new stock of knowledge, skills and emotions, which we will happily apply and share with the student assets of the university.
