The activity of the Gzhel University as a center for training specialists in the field of art and industrial education attracts the attention of representatives of foreign countries. The number of foreign students studying in different areas of the university is increasing every year.
On August 6th, 2018, guests from the USA Catherine Fuller and Richard Morton, who collaborate with the Holy Trinity Orthodox Monastery in Guatemala, visited our university. Three pupils from this monastery have been studying at the university for the third year in the direction of preparing arts and crafts and folk crafts.
As the guests told, they had heard a lot about GSU and wanted to get closer acquainted with its activities, to see what progress the girls had achieved.
English language teacher I.A. Tolmacheva conducted a tour of the training and production workshops, where the process of manufacturing products from porcelain and majolica is fully represented. The guests viewed with interest the creative work of university graduates and expressed the opinion that GSU is a special creative center where artists and ceramics artists are trained, preserving and enhancing the knowledge and skills of Gzhel craftsmen.
In addition, Catherine and Richard visited St. George’s Church in Ignatievo village and met with Russian culture and traditions.
The American guests liked the creative, favorable atmosphere of GSU. They promised to send an invitation to artists and ceramists from the United States to take part in international festivals and competitions of Gzhel University for the exchange of experience in the field of arts and crafts.
