A student of the faculty of visual arts and design, Yulia Majurova, presented our university at the International Festival “The Slavic Unity” in Vetka (Belarus).
The festival has been held annually since 1969. In honor of the 30th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in 1975, the Three Sisters monument of friendship was erected at the junction of the three borders. Until 2014, the festival was positioned as a meeting of the delegations of the border areas: Gomel (Belarus), Bryansk (Russia) and Chernihiv (Ukraine). Now it is held on the territory of Belarus or Russia. Both countries sincerely wish to return to the event its original integrity and form.
The history of the festival inspired me to develop his corporate identity, especially since this can be done within the framework of my master`s thesis. I was born in Novozybkov, Bryansk region and since childhood have participated in such events, therefore, having received advice and recommendations from my supervisor and compiling questions for questioning the visitors to the event, I went to Belarus. The goal is to identify the attitude of participants and spectators to the festival, its design and organization, as well as to acquaint representatives of folk arts and crafts, folk groups and educational institutions with our university.
Reaching the venue of the festival, I was amazed: despite the cloudy weather and drizzling rain, everything around was replete with a riot of colors and music. It was evident that people were waiting for this holiday.
At the festival, I managed to meet with the teachers of the Novozybkov Children`s Art School, where I studied, they represented crafts from the Russian side.
This year, the main theme of the meeting was the theme of the small homeland. Within the framework of the festival, an exhibition “The inflorescence of crafts”, a concert “Sozhsky smash-hit”, a concert of popular entertainers took place, the stalls of the national cuisine developed on the square of the city of Vetka. The festival ended with an open-air youth discotheque with the participation of popular DJs of the Gomel region.
We had to show activity and mobility in order to represent our university at the festival. I was able to talk with Deputy Governor of the Bryansk Region A. M. Korobko, Chairman of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee V. A. Dvornik, present a souvenir and present our university to the Director of the Gomel Regional Center for Folk Arts I. V. Bykhovtsova. Director of the children`s choreographic school of art in Gomel, director of mass theatrical performances (including this festival), honored cultural worker of the Republic of Belarus, P. I. Sverdlov, gave some useful tips and recommendations for developing a logo for the festival.
I came back home with a baggage of information and addresses useful for working on a project for potential cooperation.
