On September 13th, 2018, a musician and composer from Guatemala, winner of many international competitions and festivals Roberto Pérez Chamalé, gave a concert on the stage of Gzhel University.
The concert was attended by the Ambassador of Guatemala Gustavo Adolfo Lopez Calderon, Embassy Consul Doris Quesada Guzmán, Counselor Envoy Rudi Alberto Gomez, students and teachers of the Gzhel University, head of the rural settlement of Gzhelskoe G. N. Golinkova, directors and teachers of children`s educational institutions.
Roberto Peres Chamale is the pianist of the national choir of Guatemala, the conductor of the Benedictine monastery of San Bernardo Tolomei – Abbey of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and also heads the European Union and the “Harmonization of Life” project of the Santa Catarina Pinula Department of Guatemala. He is the author of more than forty pieces of music, including pieces for piano and folk instruments.
The concert included a waltz “Mercedes”, written by the maestro himself, as well as works by authors such as Juan De Deos Montenegro, Jesús Castillo, Jorge Sarmientos and others. Roberto`s play was emotional and vibrant. After a long applause of the audience, who did not want to release the maestro, he performed two more works. Students from Guatemala who attend university especially encouraged the performance of the national anthem of the Republic of Guatemala and national melodies. According to them, they seem to have returned to their homeland, which is so far across the ocean.
The speech of Roberto Perez Chamale was made possible by the participation in his organization of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Guatemala to Russia Gustavo Adolfo Lopez Calderon, who visited the university on August 23rd and proposed such an idea.
The staff of the Embassy of Guatemala are frequent guests and regular participants of international festivals and conferences that are held at the State University. International relations with this country were established in 2014. Representatives of the university visited Guatemala, took part in the opening of the ceramic center in Amatitlán, for which personnel are trained at Gzhel University, signed a cooperation agreement with the University of San Carlos. The university successfully develops international relations with educational institutions and cultural institutions of Guatemala.
