On February 20th a solemn event was held in the assembly hall dedicated to Russian Army Day, one of the most significant holidays in Russia.
GSU staff was congratulated by rector, former colonel of missile forces B.V. Ilkevich. Among the university staff, 44 people served in the ranks of russian armed forces. These are: Colonels V. S. Bordukov, I. N. Dubovitsky, M. N. Kozin, Major A. N. Zimenkov, Captain K. B. Ilkevich, Senior Lieutenant A. A. Afanasyev, Senior Lieutenant Yu. A. Varitsky, warrant officer A. A. Kharitonov and others.
Some of them, such as Colonel V.A. Testov, Lieutenant D.V. Basenkov, Sergeant V.V. Makarov, Private I.V. Tarkhov, had a chance to take part in hostilities in Afghanistan or Chechen Republic.
According to tradition, at general staff meeting we celebrate anniversaries. Rector B. V. Ilkevich congratulated A. A. Afanasyev, A. V. Korolev, the head of Psychology and Pedagogy Chair, I. N. Dubovitsky, and the professor of Management Theory and Organization Chair E. G. Karelin on jubilee dates and handed mementoes to college teachers A. A. Afanasyev and A. V. Korolev.
The concert program, dedicated to the Day of Motherland Defender, was opened by the dance “Do you know how you want to live?” Performed by the distance learning student Yulia Zagryadskaya. Student of the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Education Victoria Gorbachev sang the song by composer Igor Demarin with the lyrics of Yuri Rogoza’s “Afghan Waltz”. A third-year student of Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Education, Elena Medyankina, sang a heart-warming and touching song “Why does birch make noise in Russia”. Arina Shemyakina read Igor Zhdanov’s poem “Museum of War”. First-year students of the Department of Culture and Art Olga Sosnovskaya, Yuliya Bravkova and Anastasia Lebedeva performed the song “Defenders of the Fatherland”. At the end of the concert, the song “There Is Only a Moment” was sounded by composer Alexander Zatsepin to the verses of Leonid Derbenev from the film “Sannikov Land” performed by the student of the correspondence course Mikhail Gulomov.
We heartily congratulate all those who have already completed military service, and those who still have to carry it, as well as all men on Defender of Motherland Day!
