On February 19th students and teachers of our university took part in the celebrations for XIII Day of Moscow Region Orthodox Youth, organized by Main Department for Social Communication of Moscow Region and Department for Youth Affairs of the Moscow Diocese.
In the Moscow Region, the Day of Orthodox Youth has been celebrated since 2007 with the blessing of Archibishop of Krutitsy and Kolomna Juvenaliy. It is dedicated to the feast. The idea of the event – the formation of youth interest in the traditions of Russian Orthodox Church, the history of their land, the origins of national culture – is very important for the spiritual and professional formation of young people who study at the university.
In March 2017, the University celebrated the Orthodox Book Day, an exhibition of Orthodox literature was organized, which featured old books from private family collections, including books of the old rite, old manuscripts, orthodox periodicals. To communicate with young people, priors of Gzhel temples come to the university for such events.
Since 2017, International Christmas Educational Readings have been held at GSU, in which students, teachers of GSU, schoolchildren and representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church take part.
In January 2019, at the invitation of Bishop Gorodetsky and Vetluzhsky Augustin, students, teachers and researchers of GSU became participants in a scientific-practical conference organized by Gorodets Diocese (Nizhny Novgorod Region) as part of XXVII International Christmas Educational Readings.
As part of the preparation of bachelors in arts and crafts and folk arts, the university develops the best traditions of Russian art education. At classes in such disciplines as "Fundamentals of industrial skill", "Design", "Architectural ceramics", "Special design", students study the history of church art. The knowledge gained during training allows to achieve new results in professional activities. Many churches of the Moscow region today adorn the work of students and teachers of t Gzhel University.
Students annually take part in the celebration of Day of Orthodox Youth in Moscow Region. This time its organizers prepared a concert program, the main idea of which was an Orthodox family. As part of the Orthodox Youth Day, a traditional photo exhibition-competition of young photographers “Orthodox Moscow” took place.
Meetings on this holiday with the clergy and participants of the event from Moscow and Moscow region, communication with peers impressed the students.
