By tradition, the events in GSU dedicated to the Victory of Soviet people in Great Patriotic War began long before May 9th.
More than ten years, the student has been implementing the civil-patriotic project “Days of Military Glory”. The United Council of Students held the campaign "St. George Ribbon", "Lilac of Victory", "Letter of Victory". For the first time this year, students, teachers and university staff took part in the All-Russian Historical Dictation on the historical events of the Great Patriotic War.
May 7th, 2019 in the assembly hall held a solemn event "past years living memory", which was attended by university students. Modern young people have never heard a siren siren announcing bombing, have not seen destroyed houses, do not know what a scarce military ration is. To convey the horror of wartime and pride in the warriors who defended the world, the participants in the event tried using means of vocal, literary and choreographic creativity.
Teachers and university staff also participated in hostilities on various fronts of the Great Patriotic War. The time is inexorable, today they are not alive, but we remember them. On May 9th, 2019, a column of "Immortal Regiment" at the university gathered more than 100 students, faculty and staff. The participants of the action carried photos of relatives, friends, and teachers – V.N. Strakhov, B. M. Pishchik, V. S. Pavlov, I. A. Sokolov and many others who fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. It is pleasant that our graduates walked in the university column: A. V. Kustarev, V. A. Kustareva, V. V. Denisov, and settlement residents.
On the morning of May 9th in our settlement was a massive athletics race dedicated to Victory Day, which was attended by 59 university students. Our athletes have three prizes at a distance of 500 meters: among young men, Andrei Torlak took the second place, Andrei Tishchenko - the third (both students study in the second year of the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Education). Among girls in third place is a freshman in the department of physical culture Anastasia Dovydenko.
At noon on May 9th, a meeting was held near the monument to fallen soldiers in Electroizolyator. N.V. Barkalova, head of international relations department, addressed the fellow countrymen. She noted the great contribution of the residents of Ramensky district and Gzhel to the victory over fascism and congratulated the veterans, home front workers, children of war and all those gathered on the holiday. After the performances, the chords of the well-known melody of the song “Cranes” by Jan Frenkel and Rasul Gamzatov sounded, and white balls soared smoothly into the sky as a tribute to the 27 million who died in World War II.
In memory of the dead countrymen, representatives of the university laid flowers at the memorial to the countrymen who fell during the war. In the evening, the action “Candle of Memory” took place, in which students and teachers of the university took part. The procession with candles in hands and the winning salute became the apotheosis of the festive events.
Years pass, generations change, but the memory of war and Victory will live for centuries. We remember!
