On April 25, 2022, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to the Russian Federation, Hector Isidro Arenas Neira, and the First Secretary of the Embassy, Alberto Nicolas Gabrielle Dalla Bon Caffell, arrived at GSU to participate in the opening ceremony of the Week of Science dedicated to the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia. The guests delivered a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony, and also took part in a round table on the topic "Gzhel folk art craft in the context of national cultural heritage." Associate Professor of the Department of Socio-Cultural Activities and Tourism I. V. Korshunova conducted an excursion for the guests, during which she spoke about the history of GSU, introduced the process of making porcelain in training and production workshops, as well as the creative work of students in the University Museum of Decorative and Applied Arts. At the end of the tour, I. V. Korshunova showed a master class on Gzhel painting, in which Hector Isidro Arenas Neira took part. After firing, the painted plate will be handed over to the ambassador. In addition, the guest met with Colombian students who study at the university, inquired about the living conditions and the results of their education. Hector Isidro Arenas Neira highly appreciated the contribution of Gzhel University to the formation and development of human resources for folk arts and crafts, emphasized the professional level of creativity of GSU teachers and students, and also assured that he would make efforts to ensure that more Colombian students start studying at the university next year.
