As part of the Week of Science dedicated to the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia, from April 25 to April 29, 2022, events were held at Gzhel State University in which Cuban artists took part.

On April 26, 2022, a painting master class was held by Omar Godines, with whom the university has been cooperating for a long time. Omar is a well-known artist, a participant in many creative projects, exhibitions, master classes. He always comes to GSU with pleasure and shows his skills. This time, Omar Godinez spoke about the extraordinary nature of his homeland and offered to draw a Cuban landscape. In a short time, sky blueness, lush green grasses, bright flowering plants, tall palm trees and a blue lake appeared on the canvas.

Students of the Institute of Applied Arts and Design also got down to business and soon their paintings began to sparkle with the same bright and saturated colors. Then a lecture was organized on the art of Cuba, at which the director of the National Academy of Fine Arts of San Alejandro (Havana) Lesmes Larrosa Gonzalez and the head of the jewelry art department of the academy Marlene Piloto Vazquez spoke. This is the first in Cuba and one of the oldest professional institutions in Latin America for the training of fine arts. A cooperation agreement was signed with the Academy in 2019, and many joint events have already taken place. Lesmes Larrosa Gonzalez spoke about the specialties and activities of the academy, showed his works on sculpture, as well as what projects that teachers and students are engaged in not only in Cuba, but also in other countries. Marlene Piloto Vazquez spoke about the specialty of jewelry, demonstrated student and her work, made in various techniques from silver, copper and other materials.

Then the senior lecturer of the department of arts and crafts and design O. A. Pervozvanskaya conducted excursions for the guests. The university administration expresses its gratitude to the Cuban guests for cooperation in the cultural and educational fields, which will contribute to the development and strengthening of friendship between Russia and Cuba.
