The opening ceremony of the Year of the Teacher and Mentor and festive events dedicated to the Students Day took place at Gzhel State University.
In order to recognize the special status of workers engaged in pedagogical and mentoring activities, by decree of the President of Russia V.V. Putin, 2023 was declared the Year of the Teacher and Mentor. Gzhel University has been training specialists for the industrial and social spheres of our country and foreign countries for 124 years. Time has changed, generations of students have changed, and the names of their teachers and mentors are preserved in the memory of graduates. Veterans of pedagogical work and teachers who until recently were students themselves were present in the hall that day. The work of the teachers of our university is important and significant, it has been repeatedly awarded state and departmental awards. In 2022, the Honorary titles of Gzhel State University were established and the first award took place.
Greetings and congratulations to the teachers and students of the Gzhel University were made by the rector of the GSU D.S. Deputy Chairman of the Council of Deputies, GSU graduate N. M. Shirokova; Chairman of the Committee for Culture and Tourism M. G. Rogatina; General Director of the Municipal Center for Regional Management, a graduate of our educational institution S. S. Myakotin; director of the territorial administration Novokharitonovskoye N. A. Shirenina; director of the territorial administration of Gzhelskoe G. N. Golinkova.
As part of the ceremony, teachers and mentors of youth, who are graduates of Gzhel University in different years, were honored on stage. Each of them has achieved a lot in the pedagogical field and has been awarded various awards.
Students also received congratulations on this day from curators and teachers. Russian Student Day is one of the favorite events of the younger generation. This holiday appeared on January 25 (12), 1755, on the day of memory of the holy martyr Tatiana, first as the birthday of Moscow University (it was on this day that Empress Elizabeth signed a decree on its opening), and then as a holiday for all Russian students. Students Day in the Russian Empire was celebrated noisily and cheerfully, but in Soviet times it was forgotten and revived only in 2005 as the Day of Russian Students.
As part of the celebration of the Day of Russian Students, an open dialogue «rector-student» was held. Such meetings have become a tradition in our university. The students asked the head of the university their questions regarding the quality of education, the prospects for improving the material and technical base and opening up new areas of training.
We will not tire of saying a huge «thank you» to the entire faculty of Gzhel State University, to everyone who daily shares their knowledge, skills and experience with college and university students.
Dear GSU students! We hope that you will please your teachers and mentors with your smiles, successes and achievements more than once! Happy Russian Student Day!
