On 2nd of August, 2016 as the preparation for a visit to Central America at the University a meeting was held with a counselor of the Russian Embassy in Nicaragua and El Salvador, V.A. Popovich, which was also attended by the head of the settlement Gzhel G.N. Golinkova and Director General of OOO " Ceramics Gzhel" S.A. Akentev.
V.A. Popovich focused on education and culture, including the direction of the Salvadoran citizens studying in Russian universities, so it was interesting to get acquainted with the activities of the University of Gzhel, training conditions and accommodation of students.
El Salvador – one of the first countries in Latin America, with which the University began to develop international relations in the field of education and culture. Due to The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of El Salvador in Russia Miss Kanhura Claudia de Centeno and the Rector of GSU Professor B.V. Ilkevich were implemented unique international projects.
So, in 2014 the famous Salvadoran artist Fernando Llort took part in the international festival "Art ceramics", which is held annually at the University. Fernando Llort presented his personal exhibition, lectured and conducted a master class. The outcome of the visit of the mayor of the Salvadoran Panchimalko Mario Melendez Portillo in GSU was a trilateral agreement on cooperation between the university, city of Panchimalko and Gzhel settlement. GSU delegation visited El Salvador in order to present activities of the university and the establishment of vocational education business contacts.
In 2015, four of the ceramists from Panchimalko held at the University of refresher courses on the program "Production and painted art pottery" and adopted the experience of producing Gzhel products.
The friendly relations and fruitful cooperation has been successfully developing and other Latin American countries. The delegation headed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Guatemala in Russia Mr. Estuardo Meseses Coronado and the Ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua to Russia Mr. Juan Ernesto Vasquez Araya participated in many international projects of the University. Since 2015, GSU taught arts and crafts three students from Guatemala.
At the end of September 2016 the delegation of our University is going to visit the University of Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala. The program of the visit includes meetings with the ministers of education and guidance centers of production of traditional ceramics – San Juan del Oriente and Carolina (Nicaragua), Panchimalko (El Salvador), Amatitlan (Guatemala), visiting art centers, educational institutions, presentations of the University activities and demonstrations of works of students of faculty arts and crafts and design. It is planned to conclude cooperation agreements with educational institutions and municipalities.
The upcoming trip to Latin American countries will further strengthen and expand international cultural and educational ties Gzhel University, which has become an international center for the training of highly qualified personnel in the field of Industrial Arts Education.
